Polyurethane And Epoxy Resins
As Orhun Kimya, we have been producing, selling and exporting electrical insulation materials, insulation varnishes, industrial paints since 1988. Our company, which is an expert in its field, is the leader in the production of epoxy resin and polyurethane resin with ISO quality certificates.
Resins have an important place in electrical and electronic insulation. There are two types of resins used in the electrical industry according to their chemical types: Epoxy and polyurethane resins.
Epoxy Resin
Epoxy resin has high adhesion strength and exhibits mechanical properties along with chemical resistance. In short, epoxy veil is a plastic that can take the desired shape with heat treatments. The most important feature of epoxy resins is that they pass from liquid state to solid state very easily.
Epoxy resins show high resistance to high temperature, water, acid and alkali. For this reason, while protecting the electrical components against external factors such as dust and moisture, it also prevents short circuits by providing electrical isolation.
Epoxy Resin Usage Areas
Epoxy resin products produced by Orhun Kimya are used as insulation materials in electronic circuit products.
Polyurethane Resin
Polyurethane resins have high chemical resistance just like epoxy resins. Their resistance to dust and moisture is also very high. It is frequently used in electronic circuits due to its electrical insulation and good adhesion properties. Polyurethane resin is more flexible than epoxy resins.
Polyurethane Resin Usage Areas
Polyurethane resin products produced by Orhun Kimya are safely used as insulation material in advanced and sensitive electronic circuit products.
Advantages of Epoxy and Polyurethane Resins
- They have hygienic and antibacterial properties.
- They are resistant to high temperature, dust and humidity.
- Although they are flexible, they have high chemical resistance.
- They protect electronic components against moisture with their dust-proof and waterproof properties.
- Due to their long life, they also extend the life of electronic circuits.
Differences Between Epoxy and Polyurethane Resin
- Epoxy resin has a harder, polyurethane resin has a softer structure.
Since epoxies are harder, their brittleness is higher than polyurethane resins. Polyurethanes have an elastic structure. - While epoxy resins are prone to scratching due to their hard properties, the elastic structure of polyurethane resins provides high resistance to scratches.
- While epoxy resins adhere to any surface, polyurethane resins are selective in adhesion to the surface.
- Epoxy resins have UV resistance. Polyurethane resins do not have UV resistance.
- While epoxy resins have high solvent resistance, polyurethane resins do not have the same solvent resistance.
- Epoxy resins are resistant to high temperatures, but polyurethane resins have much better resistance to shock temperatures.
